Summer of Bo and Mommy

On Friday Baby Woodster #2 will be 24 weeks which means we are 16 weeks away from the due date. Mommy has one more week of summer vacation and then has to go back to school. In the meantime, we are spending lots of time together and doing tons of fun things. Daddy calls it the Summer of Bo and Mommy.
Last weekend we had lunch at Crown Candy. My Daddy even bought me this sucker which I loved. I made a bit of a mess but it was worth it.

Mommy made me her famous chocolate pudding cake which I loved of course. I ate a little bit with my spoon but then used my hands. I've really been practicing using the utensils like my Mommy & Daddy but sometimes I just can't help myself.

This week Mommy took me to the Magic House for the first time. Daddy was very jealous because he had to go to work. They had so many things to play with. I think I wore my Mom out moving from activity to activity. Here are some giant Leggos.

They also had a big sandbox to play in, which is one of my favorites. I might have to ask Santa to bring me one of these.

Of course I have gone to the pool a few times and even went down the water slide on my own. Mommy took me to get my back to school haircut and says I look just like my Daddy after he has his hair cut. Mommy said I was such a good boy that we went to the bakery next door and bought a cookie. MMMMMMM, my favorite. She said she bought baby Woodster a red velvet cake too so that was nice.

Mommy is taking me to the library now to read books with the other kids
I am having so much fun this summer with my Mommy while my Daddy works "real hard". I can't wait to see what we are doing next.

Bo's Tube Surgery

Monday the 19th, Bo had his operation to put the tubes in his ear. The surgery was scheduled for 7:45am so we had to arrive there at 6:45. They did use anesthesia on him so it was a little scary. The actual procedure took about 15 minutes. When they brought him back to us, he was a little out of it. We waited about 15 more minutes and then they sent us home. It was as we went to the car when Bo began to "freak out". I think he was very confused and probably a little bit in pain. It took awhile to settle him down before we could get him in the car seat. Part of me wishes we would have stayed in our room for awhile but I felt like they rushed us out of there because they knew he was not going to be happy.
We were home by 8:45 and it was probably another hour before Bo settled down. He fell asleep on my chest for about 30mins. When he woke up, he was still a little groggy but definitely feeling better. He ate some fruit and played for about an hour. After that he took another nap for about 2 hours. He had a little dry blood in his ear but from then on he was back to his normal self.
He went to his gym class on Tuesday and swimming with Mommy on Wednesday. Here is a picture of Bo enjoying a snack at the pool and one of his new trick that he likes to do.

Bo is Officially a Monster in training

This week Mommy and Daddy officially declared me(Bo) a "monster" in making. I think I am going through the stage in my life of testing my limits. I do not like the word "No". I do know what it means. Whenever I am told the word "No", I laugh and think of it as a challenge. If I am told "No" again and not allowed to do whatever I want to do then I have learned to cry and throw a fit. I think Mommy and Daddy have reached their limit on tolerance so therefore have introduced me to timeout. They were told I would start to understand this at 1years old. For ever year you are, then you can sit still for one minute. So my timeout is to sit on Mommy's or Daddy's lap for one minute. I do not like this but I do learn to not do whatever I was doing.

Some of my favorite things to do that I am not suppose to are
- get into the kitchen closet/cupboard and grab my own cookies, snacks, etc. A good example of this is below with the cereal. I open the box and dump it out all over the floor
- take the toiler paper roll and leave traces all over the house
- stick my hand in the toilet and splash
- throw food, plates, and my sipping cup at the dinner table
- climb up and down the stairs, pull the gate down if it is up and if I can pull the gate down then climb on the outside of the stairs railing
- run into the street
- pull things out of the trash can and put non-trash items into the trash can

Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor visit

Yesterday, we took Bo to see the ENT doctor. He was referred by our pediatrician because of all the ear infections we have encountered lately. The doctor said you are a candidate for tubes if you have either had 5 ear infections in the past year or 4 in the past 6 months. Bo has had 4 in the past 6 months.

He took a peek in his ears and noticed a little build up right now which is not a good sign in the middle of summer. He said normally they will be clean in the summer especially since he has not had an infection in the past 2 weeks.

With all of this, he recommended us getting tubes put in. We scheduled the surgery (out-patient) for Monday July 19th. They said he can do the surgery no matter what, even if he has a current ear infection. It is a pretty simple procedure and takes about 10-15 minutes. He will be put under anesthesia but should be recovered by the next day. He even said he could go swimming almost immediately.

We have heard nothing but good things about the tubes especially since how miserable Bo and his parents are whenever he has an ear infection. If this can put an end to these, this should make life easier for all of us this winter when baby Woodster #2 comes.

Baby Woodster #2 ultrasound

Last week, we went to the doctor for the 20 month ultrasound. This is the one where you can determine what the sex of the baby is. Needless to say, Daddy was still trying to convince Mommy to find out. She was still on the fence.

I am not sure if we had a technician who did not know what she was doing or if the baby was just in a bad position but this ultrasound took forever. The normal length is about 15-20mins to see everything. We were there for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. This included Shelly having to lay differently 3 times, 1 bathroom visit, and four different attempts by the technician.

According to the technician, she eventually saw everything that she needed but did not present an abundance of confidence. She gave us several pictures including one very good profile one and one with the sex. The later was put in a sealed envelope to be opened "later". Shelly was talking about having a reveal party of some kind but given the fact we aren't too confident with the technician, I'm not sure we are going to look at all.

After the ultrasound, we went to the OB who examined Shelly and the baby bump. They said everything looked fine and the baby was just where he/she needed to be. This made us all feel better.

The baby is definitely getting bigger and the other night we even felt him/her moving around. I think the baby was just excited that Bo was sleeping and they had some quiet time.
