Granpa's work (airport)

Last weekend, the kids learned where Grandpa's work is, the airport. Grandpa had a family day on Saturday so he invited the kids to go. Bo was very excited on the drive there to see spaceships. He was a little disappointed that there were just going to be airplanes and helicoptors but he was over that on the ride there when we passed all the trains at the downtown train station. The one train followed us over the bridge so he was thrilled. Here is a picture of us in front of one of the display private jets.

They had quite a few things for the kids to do like a bouncy house, a little pop-a-shot game, little pool to fish in, paper airplane contests, drawing/coloring table, a live band playing rock-n-roll to dance to, and of course food. Here is a picture of Emmy enjoying her feast. We called it her pile of everything. She took her hot dog, potato chips, cookies, pop corn, and M&Ms and dumped them all into one big pile. Then she just kept eating handfuls. She was very proud of herself.
At then end, we went over to the runway and watched a plane and helicopter land. There were lots of other planes to look at so I think the kids had fun. Bo said Grandpa's work was way more fun than Daddy's work.

Bo's birthday at school

Since Bo's birthday is after his last day of school, he celebrated it last week. When it is a kid's birthday, they allow you to bring in a special treat to share with all the other kids. I think people usually bring in fancy cookies or cupcakes of some sort. Well, we asked Bo what he wanted to bring and he said donuts with sprinkles. So Mommy made a trip to the donut shop before school that day and got 15 sprinkled donuts (2 for the teachers as well). I believe Emmy and Mommy might have gotten one for themselves too. "They are yummy" was Mommy's excuse. At school I believe they were a big hit and the teachers said everyone ate them all. Bo also kept telling us that he needed to make his crown to wear too. We didn't know what he was talking about until after class that day. Apparently it is tradition for the birthday kid to make his own crown with stickers, drawings, etc. of their choice and wear it all day. Bo was quite proud of it as you can see. This is him showing it to me when I got home from work.

Bo feeding the ducks

About 2 weekends ago, Bo went to the park by Grammie's house and fed the ducks. He has been asking me to do this the past few months. He was thrilled and the ducks loved him. As soon as they saw he had food, they came to him as a flock. I think it overwhelmed him at first but he learned to throw the bread away from him and they just followed the bread.
Then after that we had to go check out the pirate playground of course. "Argggg, Matey"

The race to the car. Bo has been fascinated with running everywhere now. I guess he has seen Mommy and Daddy go for runs and such so he wants to run too. He sprints as fast as he can and as far as he can until his body basically gives out then falls to the ground. He thinks it is hilarious and then wants to run again.

Cardinal game

This past Thursday Mommy had a special treat for Bo by taking him to the Cardinals day game. Papa and Will went with them. It was certainly a nice day out. Mommy sent me updates so here is how I saw it from the office.

Pretty good seats. And eats like nachos, pretzels, hot dogs, and soda

Then they went to the kids area to play on the stuff in hopes of seeing Fredbird but he was already gone. When they finally came home from the game, I asked Bo how it was and the only thing he told me with the biggest sad face on "I didn't see Fredbird."

Batter Up
I think Bo had a great day but still doesn't quite get why he didn't get a turn to go on the field and play.

School Picnic

A couple of weekends ago, we took them to Gaby & Mario's school picnic so they can go on the rides and play the games. It is a small school so it was perfect for Bo and Emmy. They had about 5 rides and 10 or so games to play. Each game you could win a prize so needless to say they didn't want to stop playing. We came home with quite a few prizes. Here is the first ride that they went on, a car ride. Emmy kept saying "Beep, Beep". For whatever reason she really didn't go on any more rides. I'm not sure if she was scared or the worker there scared here or they were just too rough for her still because she is so small.
Bo went with Mario on the other rides. He loved being able to fly in the airplane and shoot people.
Of course, I forgot to mention the snacks like cotton candy, Gus's pretzels, candy of all sorts, soda pop, etc.
Then Bo's best buddy showed so they could go on rides together too. They had no fear. Of course, Mommy didn't want to miss out on it either.

Kids playing

Here are some photos of the kids playing around. They wanted to build a fort out of the cushions but still have a window to watch TV.
Here is lunch with Daddy at the park because "Mommy had to go to work" and "Daddy stay home with me" to quote Bo.
Emmy has recently discovered a new food treat. The last few weeks we have slowly been giving her some ice cream and all is well. She loves it and doesn't want to stop eating it. She was in heaven here at Cold Stone. She wanted to sample everyone's plus her own.
The kids wanted to climb a tree. Bo wanted to launch his airplane out of it but once he got up there he was a little scared.

This is one of the 2 power ranges. Bo and Will keep pretend playing that they are power rangers and are fighting all the witches in the house. (Not sure where they have seen the show Power Rangers but they are getting quite the imagination). Depending on what color shirt they are wearing that day that is the kind of power ranger. So in this picture Bo is the red power ranger and Will is the blue power ranger.

Hand, foot, and mouth disaease

About 2 weeks ago, we had a couple of rough nights with Emmy. It was very unlike her because she is normally a good sleeper (unlike her brother). There were 2 nights in a row where she literally slept about 1hr total. She was running a fever and just wanted to lay on my chest. Since that was the case, our initial guess was a virus or ear infection. She was so tired and uncomfortable but just wouldn't go to sleep which equals a grumpy little girl.

We were able to take her to the doctor and found out she had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease (not to be confused with foot-and-mouth). Apparently, it is very common with kids 3 and under. It is really just a virus that you just have to wait out of course, no medication. It starts with a fever for 2-3 days and then you get a lot of sours in your mouth, throat, hands, and bottom of your feet. The biggest problem usually occurs with dehydration because the kid's mouth is so sore they don't want to eat or drink anything. This was definitely the case. She wasn't eating but luckily she was taking some popsicles and slushies. She was walking everywhere on her tippy toes because the bottom of her feet were hurting so bad.

Once the fever went away they say you are really not contagious anymore and then she at least was sleeping. Luckily, it was not passed on to Bo. We are not sure where she picked it up but we did take the kids for swim lessons two days a week for 3 weeks and the symptoms started that first week of swimming from the public pool. Who knows because Emmy is always finding random things on the ground and sticking them in her mouth. She is doing much better now and back to normal so that is the good news.

Here are a couple of photos from bath time that I found funny. Bo was acting like he was Santa Clause and giving presents (handful of bubbles) to Emmy to open. She thought it was hilarious.
