George's 2nd birthday

Cousin Georgie had his birthday two weeks ago. There was a pony ride that was Georgie's favorite. Bo like it too.

Emmy did the petting area with goats.

Here is Bo dressed up like a cowboy.

Emmy's school picture

At Emily's school, they do school pictures at the end of the year. They do it differently which we really liked. The school takes the pictures themselves and puts them up on a web site Shutterfly for you to do what you like.  Mommy sent what seemed like three different outfits for her to wear. Emily didn't wear the sweater and her hair was not exactly how it was done in the morning. But this was the result
All the kids took two photos at least. The second one they were suppose to do a "silly" face but as you can see Emily is a tad shy so I believe afraid to do a silly face.

Sick week

Last week we had some health issues with the kids. Bo was showing signs of ear problems again. Plus, he was drooling a lot. Daddy took him into the doctor and had them check. Before we could even say anything, she said she could probably guess why we were there. She checked his ears (that do not have tubes) and said they looked a little infected. His throat and glands were swollen too.

First she did a throat swab to see if he had strep throat. When that came back negative, she wanted to do blood work to check for Mono. Bo was not excited about this at all. He freaks out when he sees blood. We had to hold him down while they pricked his finger and took a blood sample. We waited another 15mins while that test came back. It was inconclusive so she wanted us to go across the hall to have more blood drawn. Since Bo thought he was finished after the first one, he did not like this idea.

After getting him calm, we walked down the hall to Qwest to have his blood taken. Let's just say they were not the friendliest people there nor did they have the skills to work with children. Since this time it was going to be a needle in the arm, I had to have Bo sit on my lap so I could wrap my legs around his legs and my arms to control his upper body. The one "nurse" held his arm while the other stuck him. Bo screamed and did his best to twist uncontrollable. I think one quote from the "lady" was "Don't bite me kid". And of course she had to put two sets of gloves on and the extra long ones that go up to your elbow because she was saying he was scratching her.

After that ordeal, we had to wait 3 days for a result. The results came back saying his one blood cell count was really high which usually means you have mono. However, he hasn't had a fever or shown any other signs of being swollen he was ok to do everything as normal. I have to admit the previous week he had been acting very tired. I believe he fell asleep in the car 3 times in a week which is something he rarely ever does.

It is a week later now and his throat and glands are back to normal and he hasn't had a fever at all so I guess the virus is already passed.
The day after taking Bo to the doctor, Emily woke up the next morning with two big swollen pink eyes. This means she would have to stay home for two days. This is a picture of her after the doctor gave her some drops for her eyes. She didn't like getting the drops either so I had to pin her down and force them in the eyeballs as she called them. It was funny at one point, some of the eye drop was running down her cheek and went into her mouth a little. She was crying a lot of course. She said it is in my mouth, ahhhhh, now i'm going to throw up. She was very dramatic but after one day of the drops, her eyes were back to normal.

Princess Emily with Cinderalla

The Magic House was hosting a Princess Tea Party. Emily was very excited to go. She dressed up as Princess Anna from the new movie Frozen. We were shocked she didn't pick Anna's sister Elsa.
There was a short play about Cinderella so Emmy wanted her picture taken by the stage.
Then of course get her picture taken with Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Easter

For Easter, Bo wanted to leave out some carrots, strawberries, blueberries, and candy for the Easter Bunny. He was trying to think of anything that a bunny might like. This is the result the next morning.
It looks like the kids were good and some candy and goodies were left. One funny thing that Bo was wondering was how does the Easter Bunny load their baskets. Santa comes through the chimney but he knows the bunny doesn't do that. Curious Bo
Someone in the family didn't want to take a family picture, can you guess which one?

Easter egg hunt

A week before Easter, the kids went on an egg hunt in Marthasville. It was raining a little so they had their rain boots and rain jackets on. A little rain wasn't going to stop them from getting candy.

Here is a picture of them going through the loot and making some trades.

Kids bike riding using the new GoPro camera

With the new camera that Toots gave us for Christmas, we bought a clamp so we could attach the camera to the handlebars of bikes. This is our first attempt at using it.

Bo went first and he was riding his big kid bike (no training wheels, real peddles) with Daddy running next to him holding onto the seat. We try to make him steer the bike and peddle himself while Daddy just holds him steady. He freaks out a little bit if he doesn't see someone actually holding the bike. If he would just get over that fear, he would be able to ride because in this example he went a good 20yds on his own with Daddy "pretending" to hold the seat and him on the bike balanced.

He was actually so nervous about it that the only way I could get him to ride the big kid bike was to bribe him with saying he will be on youtube.

Of course, Emmy had to try this out too. She was riding her strider bike which is the bike without peddles so she just uses her feet to move along. She hasn't quite mastered it. She goes very slow and we have to constantly remind her to stay sitting down on the seat. When you stand up and ride, you aren't really practicing your balance which is the key to the whole Strider bike idea.

As you can see from the video, she was ready to perform. She starts out saying "cheeseburger"

Bo and Will at the Cards game

Mommy, Tracey, Papa, and the two best friends went to the Cards game last week. It was a week night so they were excited to hang out together.
The kids signed up to be part of the kids club. As part of that, they received Cards backpacks with goodies inside them. The best quote of the night according to Mommy was - Will says, "Bo with these bags people are going to think we are kindergartners"
Bo made it half way through the game before being wiped out. They left and Mommy had to carry him to the car all the way from the seats. This wore Mommy out.

Okey Dokey Smokey

When Mommy took Bo to the Cards game, Emily and Daddy stayed home. Daddy asked her what she wanted to do and she picked read books. (We had just gone to the library and picked out a bunch of new ones). Emily picked which ones so she picked out 5 books for her to read to Daddy and 5 books for Daddy to read to her.

Here is a video I tried to sneakily take of her reading her book to me. She kept saying she messed up and wanted to start over. So when she went to start over, she would keep saying "okey-dokey, smokey". That is what I was really trying to record.

Bo's first baseball game

Bo had his first game so he was excited to wear his real uniform, pants and all.
Here he is playing defense and saying, "don't hit it to me"
Ready for his first pitch in his batting stance.
He had two at bats the first game. He had to hit of the tee the first time but the second time he hit one that the coach pitched. We joke that he was 2 for 2 with 2 grand slams. They were batting in alphabetical order and they can only take one base at a time except for the last batter (Bo) who runs all the way around.

Here is the #1 fan.

Bo's Teeball at St. Clement's

Here is Bo's first practice at Will's school for teeball. They are actually doing coach pitch for 3 swings and then if they don't hit it then they hit off the tee. This is a picture of them practicing playing catch with a wiffle ball or soft baseball.

Since the weather was a little cold, they actually were able to practice inside the gym. Here is a video of a grounder being hit to Bo (in the read shirt and black pants) playing second base. Also note the intense 3rd baseman they have on their team that chases down every ball.

Bo's indoor league

Here is a picture from Bo's last indoor soccer game of the year. He did a little better playing this time. I would say he really tried to get the ball and play for the first 5mins. After that, he lost interest and day-dreamed off a little. It is a little distracting with the big bouncy houses next to the field.

That was his favorite part. On the last day of practice, they let them play on the bouncy houses for the last 20mins of practice.
I think Bo was excited for soccer to be over. Really, he just didn't like games. In the games he was bored because he never got the ball. This is why I believe he had trouble staying engaged in the game. However, practice was a different story. He loved practice and always wanted to go to those. I believe this was true because every kids gets a ball and does the drills on their own. They all get into the action and he never has to be aggressive and try to steal the ball. He did enjoy playing with some of the kids from his school so maybe next year he will be more interested in playing.

Emmy loved going to the games because she usually was given a snack from Gandpa and Gandma.

April Fools Day

Bo has been looking forward to this holiday for quite some time. He has been planning "tricks" to play on people. We even read a kids chapter book about April fools.

We had to deny a few of the tricks he wanted to play like put a real rat in Mommy's bed or in Mommy's cereal. He also wanted to "steal" Mommy's car or drive it to Will's house in the morning so she wouldn't know where it is. We made some compromises.

After Bo went to bed the night before April 1st, we stacked all the pillows and cushions in front of Bo's bedroom door so he couldn't see out of it.When he came down for breakfast, Daddy gave him a bowl of cereal with milk that had been left in the freezer over night so it was completely frozen. Bo thought that was great. His orange juice was in the same state.

When Daddy and Bo left for school that morning, we drove Mommy's car down the street so it would be hard for her to see. We also put two of Emmy's stuffed animals in the car seats all buckled up to make it look like they were driving.

For Bo's lunch, Daddy taped up all his bags of food and the inside so it everything had to be untangled to get out. Bo said it was hilarious and he showed all the kids and teachers.

For dinner, we made spaghetti but Bo set the table before Mommy & Emmy got home. We made a place for every stuffed animal in Emmy's room and had them imitating eating dinner. Emmy thought it was cool.

Bo has lots of ideas for next year.
