Angry Birds

This past Sunday to take advantage of the nice weather Bo and I went outside to do some yard work. Bo decided to build a real life angry bird set with boxes. It was pretty windy outside so we had to resort to doing it in the garage. He set up all the boxes himself and then got out his angry bird figures. You have to look closely because they are small (usually indoor use). We then took balls (pretending them to be angry birds) and knocked out the piggies and boxes. He was very proud of his work so went in to get his Ipad to take a picture.

I think next time we will have to make some bigger size piggies and angry birds.

Happy birthday mommy

I asked the kids what they wanted to get Mommy for her birthday. Bo thought about it for awhile and came up with a few things. He wanted to take a picture of him and Emmy right then, print it, and put it in a frame. Then Mommy could take it to work with her for whenever she is feeling sad. Emmy was sleeping so we had to settle for just Bo. Here is that picture.

He also said let's get her a jewelry box too because Mommy loves jewelry. The only thing that Emmy came up with was toys and donuts. Since the week was kinda of busy, we woke mommy up on her birthday morning with donuts, flowers, and Bo's picture frame. This is a picture of the kids enjoying eating donuts in my bed.

We didn't even have cake until Sunday. This is a video of the kids singing to Mommy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXGBJOkZzF0

Bo's sleep study

This week Bo took a sleep study at Mercy hospital. Bo and I stayed the night. Bo was actually really excited because we were going to stay in a hotel room at the hospital. He didn't realize what it was going to entail. I told him that we both were going so they could watch us sleep and see if they could figure out why we wake up in the middle of the night. He thought it was a cool idea as long as we both were doing it.

We wore our jammies there too so that helped Bo's enthusiasm. We got there at 7:30. Our nurse Julia showed us to our room and said to get situated then she would be back to put the wires on Bo. Bo didn't quite know what that meant. We made it into a game and said he was being turned into a robot. Once she started to put the wires on, he had to sit still and stay on the bed. It took like 30mins to put them all on. There was a lot of tape and adhesive. At this point he was getting tired. I had my own bed next to his so we laid down with the lights out and I read him a chapter and half of Harry Potter.

The nurse ran a few tests to make sure all the sensors were connected and working properly. About 9pm, I closed the book and turned out the lights. Bo wasn't asleep but he was a few minutes later. I was amazed how well he sat still and didn't play with the wires. He tossed and turned a little bit but fell asleep really fast. Of course, he went the whole night without waking up, snoring, talking, or making any noise at all really. He turned over a lot and the nurse had to come in probably 20 times to reconnect him but he never woke the whole time. Bo was a great sport.

For his reward, we went out to breakfast before going to school. It was Bo's choice so we went to Steak-n-shake and had pancakes and eggs. We brought cards and played Uno, go fish, and built a house of cards. Then headed off to school and work. We won't get the results back until later. We will have to call the ENT this week to see how it went.

Hockey game

Last weekend all the kids were taken to the Blues/Ducks hockey game. Mama and Papa gave this to them for a Christmas present. Mama's second cousin from St. louis plays on the Ducks. Before the game, we all met at the Flamingo bowling alley to bowl and eat some snacks before heading to the arena.
At the game, we had a suite which had some snacks in there. This is Emmy eating a big cookie. She wanted two of them even though just one was bigger than her head.

Emmy and Daddy watching the game.

This is Bo watching the game from the hotel room in the stadium as he called it. But it didn't have a bed. He thought it was cool.

Swimming lessons at rockwood

The start of January we signed the kids up for swimming lessons at Rockwood through Swim America. Any age can join in and they give you a test at the beginning to see what stage  you are. Bo is in stage 3 and really wants to move up to stage 4. In order to do that he has to show them that he can consistently swim on his own with no aid by anything a certain distance. Plus, he has to be able to float on his back. This is him practicing with the teach.

I believe they go up to level 20 which is obviously a very advanced swimmer.
Emily is in stage 1 which means it is the first stage not parent/child class so she goes in by herself. The first week she did well but the second week did a lot of crying and clinging to the teacher. This makes it hard to advance to the next level.

This is Bo after he took off from the end to swim to the teach. He loves wearing his goggles.

This is another picture of Emmy swimming on the noodle with the teacher's help but still crying.

Snow days

We have had a lot of snow, ice, and just cold the past few weeks so cabin fever has been setting in for everyone. When Bo had a sleepover with his best buddy Will, Emmy and Mommy went to the Magic House. This is a picture they sent me going down the slide.
Emmy went to see the Queen, Aunt Beth to do have her nails done.

One snow day the kids took their water noodle, cut it in half and made a marble race track.

Then Bo of course played a lot of Legos where he built his Star Wars and Legends of Chima sets. Then he played a lot with his Angry Bird stuff, building up courses to knock down angry bird-style.

Attempting to video and sled a bigger hill

Since we have been locked up inside and anxious to move around, we attempted to go to Logan college to sled down a bigger hill. We also wanted to test out our new GoPro camera. We had the waterproof case on it so the sound is not very good but the picture is great as we get ready to drive over there. I put it on the dashboard.

This is some of the video that we took when we actually went sledding. The snow had let off a little but it was getting colder. We underestimated the wind there too since there were no trees or buildings to block it. It was very cold so we probably only lasted 10mins there total.

Bo was suppose to hold the camera going down the first time but he wanted to hold on with both hands. When he hit the bottom he went face first into the snow and was done. Mommy took him to the car. Emmy rode down with me and had fun but she could not walk up the hill because it was too steep and the snow was up to her waist.

After we all got back up to the top, Mommy and Daddy raced to the bottom. Then we raced back to the top. We were all cold so headed back home to sit by the fire and eat homemade chicken and dumplings.

January snowmaggedon

Here is the family going out around lunch time after it snowed all night. It was a little windy but not too bad yet. You can see how deep the snow is already since the kids are not even out of the driveway

Bo and Mommy were trying to get the snowball gun/slingshot to work while Daddy pulled Emmy in the sled or chariot.
We went across the street to go down the neighbor's small hill

Happy new year

This is a funny picture of the kids sneaking ice cream the night before New Year's Eve. Mommy and Daddy were upstairs and they wanted "Be-ssert"
We stayed at the "ho-tel" for Cordia Xmas. Bo and Emily enjoyed playing with all the cousins and going swimming. They found a stack of cups and were making towers. They were very proud of this one.
Then decided to make a castle or could it be a jail.
Emily was given a lot of make-up for Xmas this year and she decided to look "beautiful" one night. She came up to me and asked if she looked beautiful. I said of course you did but you might have put too much make-up on. Plus, I'm not an expert on this but may have been putting the wrong type in the wrong places. It was funny though. Bo was busy building and took one glance up saying "No" to her beautiful question.
They were very proud to wear their Frozen jammies from Grammie on New Year's Eve.
After a long holiday weekend, we were a little off our normal schedule. The kids were refusing to go to bed or take a nap. They were so tired. Bo finally cried himself to sleep in the chair like this.
Emily of course had to lay on Daddy's tummy like she did when he was a baby while Daddy watched sports on TV. This is what she looked like after I got up to get the camera

Mommy and Daddy had a late night partying for New Year's downtown at Kemole's at the top of the Met building. Mommy enjoys telling the story so you can ask here for more details.

Christmas 2013

The night before Christmas Eve the kids put together Gingerbread houses while Mommy did some baking. Bo's was the traditional one that we had a little trouble putting together so ended up doing Angry Birds with  it and eating it.

Emmy had a Princess castle that was a little easier to put together since part of it was paper
Here is picture of the tree first thing in the morning after Santa came with all the presents out in front.
Mommy made snowman "pamcakes" this time as requested by the kids.
We had a lot of fun putting "Little Elfie" (Elf on the Shelf) this year. He did a lot of funny things. The kids especially Emmy were very excited every morning to see what he would be doing this time. Sometimes they even woke up extra early. Bo was more excited about his Angry Birds Kinect Advent calendar. He could hardly contain himself to only open one box every day. It was very difficult for him. Sometimes we had to put it up so he wasn't tempted.
Mommy and Bo in front of the fire ready to open some presents.
Emmy just wanted to open presents. She didn't want to eat or anything else until all the presents (didn't matter whose they were) were open.
Bo was excited to get Angry Birds.
Emmy was very excited in this picture.
Bo looks sad in this one. I think he is looking for his Skylanders which he hadn't opened yet. He said, "I might die if I don't get Skylanders from Santa"

Then he finally got it
