Bo's sleep study follow-up

Bo's ENT Dr.Forsen called back last week. Bo does not have sleep apnea. His oxygen levels looked ok during the sleep study. However, the study did show that Bo was a very "restless" sleeper. His body movements during sleep are not normal. Dr. Forsen said he doesn't specialize in this area. He gave us the number to another doctor who does specialize in this area. We asked Dr. Forsen if it was really warranted to see someone for restless sleep?? He said for Bo it would be because he showed significant movement and he might offer solutions that could help him sleep better thus improve Bo's activity level during the day.

This morning we took Bo to see the Pulmonary doctor. He went over the specifics of the sleep study since he is the one who really reads the results. Most of the activity during Bo's sleep was normal except for limb movements was very high. The first thing they check with this is diet. A lot of times restless legs is caused by an iron deficiency. They took blood to check this. It took two nurses to hold him down while they drew blood. He screamed very loudly. The results of his iron level came back normal so he is prescribing another drug called Gabapentin that they have seen success. We are to monitor him for a week and see if he does better.

Swim lessons - Bo ready to move up to the next level

Last Saturday, Bo almost moved up to the next level in swim lessons. In order to do so, he has to accomplish two things on his own. He is suppose to swim from the flags to the end all by himself and not below water the whole time. Below is a video of him successfully completing that part. The second thing is to float on his back, perfectly still for a few seconds which has done previously.

As you can see, he swam to the edge of the pool fairly easily. He immediately climbed out and wouldn't do anything else. The teach (lady standing on the side in the black) thought he was scared to move up to the next level, level 4 because he has to do more of swimming on his own. He was acting really strange and wouldn't answer any questions nor get back in the pool so I didn't think that was the issue. Besides, all he has talked about since he started was moving from level 3 to level 4. They have pictures of all the levels at the door which he examines every lesson. As it turns out, Bo still has an ear infection and the antibiotic he has  been on isn't working since he has been on so many. This means we are going to try another one.

Hopefully, it kicks in before this Saturday so he can complete his two tests again then move up to level 4.

Emily is doing lessons too but she is still young and not doing the levels yet. She has been going every Saturday morning too and doing what the teacher asks her.

Bo's Indoor Soccer at Vetta

This winter a few members of Bo's class signed up for indoor soccer at Vetta SoccerDome in Webster. They are all on the same team. It is 10 weeks long and they practice every Weds evening and then have games almost every weekend. Bo was sick the first weekend and they had a bye last weekend so this was his first game. Bo was a little upset at the beginning because he didn't have the jersey everyone else got the first week. The coach got him one so then he was ok.

Emmy enjoyed watching.
Bo did well the first 5mins or so of running after the ball and following it.
Then he quickly lost interest and kind of walked around.
He was always the first one to volunteer to sub out, especially when one of his friends was over there too.
I think he was happy when it was over because Gandma and Gandpa brought a cookie cake and both kids wanted a piece.

Another snow day

Here is a picture from last Wednesday when the kids and Mommy had their 7th snow day of the winter so far. We had a little trouble getting the snow man in a ball so we just made a big pile of snow then decorated him.
