Snow (a lot of it) in Spring???

Here is a video of Emmy on the swings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjfyi1Ida3c
We received a lot of snow today and it is still coming down. Emmy had trouble walking in it because it was above her knees. She kept falling down and had a hard time getting back up. Bo and Daddy shoveled her a path so she could make it to the house.

Bo made a snow angel.

Emmy found a safe place in her outdoor kitchen that was covered in snow. She said it was her fort.

Then Bo had to go to his "tree" house. We cleared off the slide so he could go down it into a pile of snow. He thought that was fun.

Then we built a pile of snow that turned into a ramp to the top of the house. Since there was so much snow it wasn't hard. They were able to walk up it without any help and sit on the window edge. Then we had a snow ball fight with the kids on top and Daddy down below. They thought it was so funny to hit me with the snow.

Then Bo had the idea of digging a hole under the ramp so he could crawl under it. Both Emmy and Bo were able to go under it. Daddy was a little too big.

After that it was time for a sleigh ride. Emmy was barely heavy enough to keep the sleigh down.

Then it was a double ride.

With the snow being so high, both kids getting bigger, and Daddy getting older, Daddy didn't last too long. It was time for Daddy's turn.

We attempted to roll snowballs very big but the kids hands were getting cold. I was say Emmy stayed outside for a little over an hour which was a record for her. They both were troopers and had fun. I hear hot chocolate with marshmallows in the near future plus a warm bath (more like marshmallows with a little chocolate milk).

Bo's Share day

Here is an article from Bo's school about his turn at share day. This past quarter each student in the class took turns having a special day to share something from home. He was very excited. In his bag, he had his Home Depot apron with his name on it, his flying wood train that he put together by himself, a tape measure, his hammer, and glue bottle. I don't think the teachers wanted the kids to play with the hammer so I don't think that made it out. We practiced it the night before since he has to stand up in front of everyone to talk about it. When he reported back, he told us "he showed everyone the hammer and told the kids his daddy lets him use it as a pillow and sleep with it." Who knows what he really said but from the looks of the article it looks like it was a calm show and tell. I think the tape measure fit into the topic they have been going over already so they got most of the focus.

Daddy's Big Girl

Just wanted to update everyone on how Daddy's Big Girl is doing. She is a big girl now as she says because she doesn't use diapers, only big girl pants. That's her quote.

For the past 2 weeks or so, she has been doing a great job. She has had a few accidents but for the most part has been dry. She even tells us when she has to go poo-poo. This is a picture of her getting a "special treat" after yelling at us from her bed because she had to go. She was very proud of herself.

She loves to ask if we are happy after she goes. Sometimes she only goes after we remind her or if she sees Bo going. She did ask if she could go like Bo (standing up) but we quickly reminded her to sit on the toilet. She won't even go on the Minnie Mouse "training" potty. Only on the big girl potty. This is a picture showing us her new jammmies she got for being a big girl.

Bo's Swim Lessons

Bo has been taking 1-on-1 swim lessons the past few weeks with one of Mommy's teacher friends. He is really enjoying it as you can see.

He goes the whole time without a life jacket and practices swimming on a noodle.

As you can see, the length of the pool is long (50m). He goes back and forth at least 4-5 times each lesson. He is now getting to the point where he puts the noodle in front of him, holds on, and kicks to move. He is getting better each time.

Then at the end she rewards him by letting him jump in and do cannon balls (his favorite).

Last week, his lesson didn't go as well as Bo was a little whinny. As it turns out, Mommy took him to the doctor and he has a double ear infection. He is on antibiotics now and goes back in two weeks. The ears were so bad that she couldn't even look in to tell if his tubes were still in place.

Happy St Patrick's Day 2013

Over the weekend, the family made our annual trip downtown for the St. Patrick's celebration. We managed to get down there a little early so we decided to have dinner at the top of the Hilton hotel at the 360 bar/restaurant. The kids really enjoyed the views and of course the Cherry soda with extra cherries. Here is a picture of Bo looking out the window checking out all the buildings and people that looked like ants. He could be dreaming of being the architect someday.
Since you can walk around and see a complete 360 degree view of the city, we had to go look at the baseball stadium where the Cardinals play. After dinner, we went swimming and watched movies in the hotel room.

Saturday morning we woke up to cold gloomy weather. We got all bundled up to do the 5 mile run. The kids were good sports and sat in the stroller the whole time while Daddy pushed them and Mommy ran with us. Bo kept the blanket over his head for the most part and Emmy didn't want the blanket at all because then she couldn't see all the people and funny green outfits they were wearing. We were hoping they would take a little nap but they started getting anxious with about a mile to go. The wind was not helping but we made it.

After the run, we changed into our green outfits and tattoos of course for the parade at noon. Thanks to Jeremy for saving us a spot while we finished the run and got ready. This is a picture right before we headed out and got bundled up from our room.

They kids had their own chairs to watch so they could catch some candy.
After the parade, we went back inside to get warm again. We took a short nap, ate some cheeseburgers and went swimming again. All-in-all it was a successful weekend. However Emmy did ask Monday if it was St. Patrick's day again. When we told her it wasn't, she was happy because she could wear pink now and no more green.
