Bo's first day of pre-school

Today was Bo's first day of pre-school at The College School in Webster. He has been asking every morning for a week now if he gets to go to school so needless to say he was very excited.  This week is only half days but next week he will go 8:05-3:15 which includes lunch and nap time. So today, we had to bring in his new pillow, sleeping bag, and "woof-woof" dog that he will leave there while he naps. He has also had to bring in an extra pair of clothes and water boots for when they go exploring the creeks. They do a lot of outside activities here so that is one of the reasons we are excited for Bo and his new school.

As we were trying to get Bo to take his picture under the tree, Emmy wanted to sit by him and say "cheese" too. Bo wasn't too interested in taking the picture, he just wanted to go to school. You can see he has a spiderman lunch box too.
By the way, Bo wrote his name on the bottom all by himself. He wanted a big B and a little o.

We took a picture in front of the school too before we went inside. He is waving to the camera.
Here is a picture from the Parent Portal. There is a daily blog every day that they update and parents can go  look at. These are all Bo's new friends as he explained to us. He was asking us what their names were. Yes, Bo is the only one in the picture that has his shoes off and he appears to need to use the restroom. I also noticed that he was standing by the girls. He always tends to play with the girls.

This is one of Bo's teachers. Each classroom has two which is really nice. When we dropped him off this morning, he went right to playing. He didn't look back. We basically had to have the teacher kneel next to him to get his picture in the classroom. We told him we were leaving but he didn't seem to care because he found the train tracks and was building trains.

I believe it was a successful day. Bo didn't remember too much to tell us except he ate lunch there and had a milk. I could tell he was very tired and he was in bed by 7:45pm and asleep which is personal record. This is how I know that he was worn out by the excitement today. I think this is why he didn't really tell us anything about the day. He definitely wants to go back so that is the key thing.

Rams' game

Papa took the Woodworth's to the Rams' game this past weekend. It was pre-season so no one else would go with him. Bo and Emily were excited. Here are the kids in the parking lot across from the dome.

Emmy dressed like a cheerleader so we had to get our picture with them.
What's going to the game without getting chips, pretzels, hot dogs, candy, and a big soda.

They stayed in their seat for most of the first half. They liked the opening with fireworks, smoke, and loud music the best. Then they had the food, snacks, and drinks. They started to get antsy at halftime so we walked around outside for a little bit then headed home.

It was cool that Bo saw football on TV the next day and stopped to say I went to watch football last night. Go Rams! There were a few times that he said Tigers but he definitely knows the difference between the sports.

Emmy's first day of school

Today was Emmy's first official day of school ever. She will be going tues, weds, and thrs. She was very excited and Bo was very jealous because he doesn't start until next week.
Here she is the princess on her first day. She is practically perfect in every way.

It wasn't hard to get her in the car because she was going to school. Plus, she got to ride in Daddy's car and in Bo's car seat facing forward so that added to the excitement. Of course, she took off her shoes and socks right away for the 5min drive.

Even though it weighed more than her, she had to wear her backpack. It almost tipped her over. By the way, it isn't a school bag or regular bag but a backpack and yes she wore it from the car all the way into the classroom.

We were a little early so she was ready to go, patiently waiting outside the door. Yes, she had to have her binkie in. I think she would have been ok but saw it in her bag so then had to have it. She is also wearing an "E" shirt that Mommy made her for her first day of school.

Here she is in her classroom with her two teachers. We were the first ones there so she was a little nervous on what to do because no other kids were there. She blew me a kiss and gave me thumbs up when I told her bye. Then she quickly turned to the toys and went to play. I walked out the door and peeked back in. She didn't cry or even turn back for me and went straight to playing. So I think it was a success.

Six Flags

To celebrate the end of summer and back to school, we took the kids to six flags. All of cousins went with us to also celebrate Gaby's birthday.

Our first stop was the Colossus, the very big ferris wheel. Bo said, "wow this is awesome, we are really high." They had trouble staying sitting down because they just wanted to look out to see everything below.
Then we hit some kiddie rides and Emily did them all. Bo did too of course but he wanted to go on the bigger rides like "big kid" roller coasters. He was about 6 inches too short so I'm sure next year he will be all over it.
We had to get snacks and drinks too. How can you not?
We saw Bugs Bunny and Tweety Bird in person. Emmy loved to see them but once you got close enough to touch she freaked out. She wanted Daddy to hold her and touch their tales. That was funny but giving them high five or her touching them was not acceptable.
They all played a game and their prize was a superhero cape. The boys picked Batman and Emmy picked pink superman. Here is a good picture of them.
They were watching a Looney Tunes dance contest so who can sit still and not dance with them. Apparently, the answer to that question is just our kids. They were the only ones dancing which was funny but there was this big open space to do so. From this video you can see that someone was getting nervous about it.

Emily eye update

Today Emily went back to the Ophthalmologist two days early. Her scheduled appointment was for Wednesday to take the "rubber band" out as Bo calls it. However, we noticed on Sunday that it was sticking out a little bit. Previously, it wasn't noticeable at all but Sunday you could start to tell it was there like a little bump. I did notice she was scratching at it a little bit but I just tried to distract her with something and she was fine. This morning when I left for work it was still the same. You could see a little bump there but that was it. When Mommy came home from work the baby sitter said she almost called her because Emily wouldn't go to sleep. When they checked on her you could see the tube sticking out a lot. They said it was hanging out to her nose. Mommy called the doctor right away and they said to just bring her in immediately. Of course, Bo was actually already sleeping taking his nap. Since I couldn't leave work, Mommy woke up Bo and took them both. Apparently, it was not a fun visit. It was described to me this way. They laid Emmy down on a bed with straps. They strapped down both arms, both legs, around her waist, and her head. She was screaming "bloody murder" as Mommy described it. I don't think Mommy could watch. They cut it and pulled it out and they were done. She does not have to go back at all unless we notice an issue. I asked what Bo did the whole time this was happening and the answer was play on the iPhone and eat Gold Fish crackers. So apparently this doesn't bother Bo at all so maybe he will become a doctor. Emmy was not in a very good mood when Daddy got home. She was very tired. I think the whole experience at the doctor wore her out.

Emmy doctor check-up

Emmy had two check-ups this week. On Wednesday, we went to the pediatric allergist that we went to one year ago. He asked us a bunch of questions on how she was doing and we told her that we have avoided eggs, fish, and peanuts (really all nuts). The past few months we have been given her things with baked eggs like cup cakes, pancakes, etc. She doesn't seem to break out when given these things but he warned us to be careful and still avoid them for the most part. Since she still is so little, he really can't do a blood test for things. The blood test is the more certain way you can check things. He did do a skin "prick" test for peanuts and she came back a +4 which is the highest you can get so it looks like she is really allergic to peanuts. But again he said you won't know for certain until the blood test. We are to come back in about 15 months when Emmy turns 3 and then do blood tests for all of those things.

He did say she is following the allergy march that statistically most kids follow. It starts with eczema, milk, eggs, peanuts, this group of foods, then into asthma. He doesn't paint a pleasant picture but he just wants to lay out the possibilities. As long as we stay aware and make sure everywhere she goes they are aware then it is definitely manageable. We have another prescription for an epipen and should carry it around wherever Emmy goes.

The other checkup was with the Pediatric Ophthalmologist that did her surgery on Monday. He said everything looks good. We have some antibiotic drops to put in there 2-3 times a day plus some cream to put on the cuts when she goes to bed. We found it is easiest if you wait until she is sleeping and then put them on there. Mommy took the kids here and said there wasn't much to it. She made an appointment to go back in 2 weeks and he'll pull out the "caste" that she has in the tear passage ways to the nose, no more surgery needed.

As you can see it isn't stopping her from doing what she always does.
